Museo “Marta “

Il Museo Nazionale Archeologico di Taranto è fra i più importanti d'Italia e fu istituito nel 1887.
Il Museo occupa fin dalle origini l'ex Convento dei Frati Alcantarini, costruito a metà del XVIII secolo e, in seguito ad interventi di ingrandimento a metà del XX secolo, l'adiacente corpo settentrionale dell'Ala Ceschi.
A partire dal 1998 sono iniziati i lavori di ristrutturazione che hanno portato alla parziale riapertura al pubblico del Museo, avvenuta il 21 dicembre 2007.
Attualmente è visitabile il primo piano che ospita le collezioni greche, romane e apule, tra cui alcuni degli ori che hanno reso celebre il Museo in tutto il mondo.

The National Archaeological Museum of Taranto is ones of the most important in Italy and was founded in 1887.
The Museum is located from the beginning in a building named as Convent of S. Pasquale or of the Alcantarini monks, erected in mid-18th century. The structure has been expanded during the 20th century by the erection of the Northern wing, named Ala Ceschi.
Starting from 1998 began the new restauration, part of it had been completed with the official opening during december 2007.
Actually it is possible to visit the first floor of the Museum, which hosts the greek, roman and apulian collections, among which the famous golds artifacts.
